MICA BAND HEATER
|
A Mica core produces a thin, efficient heater.
Heat from the precisely wound Nichrome element is quickly
transferred to the working surface for fast heat up and response.
Mica provides excellent dielectric strength and heat transfer
capability for long heater life. |
The mica core is encased in a continuous
corrosion resistant sheath and formed. All full mica band heaters are
designed with closed ends to protect against contamination. Maximum sheath
temperature is 350° C.
(1) MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLE
SHOOTING |
- The heater indiameter[I.D] must be the same as the O.D. of the cylinder.
- Secure Firmly: To compensate for normal expansion, retighten periodically.
Cycling and normal metal expansion may cause the heaters to loosen.
- Eliminate Contamination :
Oil, plastic, dirt, etc., will carbonize and
shorten heater life.
- The heater should be rated for the highest voltage anticipated.
Operation of a 220Volt heater on 240 Volt will raise the wattage by
approximately 18%, increasing watt density and reducing heater life.
- Provide Proper Maintenance:
- Tighten screw terminals firmly, but avoid
excessive pressure. - Protect leads from abuse and abrasion, - Maintain
temperature controls and accessories in good working condition to avoid
over - temperature operating conditions.
- Do not open one piece band heaters or internal damage may result.
If a
Full Band Heater cannot be installed over the end of the cylinder, then use a
Split Case or Half Band Heater for best results.
- Check wiring for poor connections or open control if heater fails to heat
when initially energized.
Sustained high operating temperature may reduce
heater life. If terminals oxidize, tighten connections and check for proper
wire size.

The uniqe construvtion of HANIL
ELECTRIC HEAT ENGINEERING COMPANY cast band heater combines the exceptional
life of a cast-in heater with the proven quality of a tubular heater.
The element utilized in the Cast Band Heater is the highly efficient,
rugged, long lasting tubular heater pressed in a grooved aluminum
extrusion.
The combination of the tubular heater in exact contact with
the excellent thermal conducting aluminum extrusion create a quick
responding band heater with uniform sheath temperature for precise process
heating.
With the termination a significant distance from the part
being heated and no other place for contaminants to enter, the Cast band
heater is virtually indestructible. A low expansion alloy strap with
mounting hardware allows the assembly to be tightly drawn to the part to be
heated.
With sheath temperatures to 650°C attainable, the Cast band
heater is ideal for use on barrels of plastic extruders, injection molding
machines, dies and die heads of extruders and blow molding equipment, or,
within temperature limitations, any cylindrical surface.
- Rugged, long lasting design
- Excellent heat transfer from element to sheath and sheath to heated
part - Virtually contamination proof - Uniform heat distribution
sheath temperature - Easy installation |
